The commission is responsible for directing long-range strategic planning, implementing guidelines for development control and fulfilling the duties associated with building inspection in the district. This process includes, but is not limited to, the issuance of building permits, processing variance applications, providing recommendations on municipal plans and zoning bylaw amendment requests and providing the public with information on zoning and permitted land uses and requirements within these zones.
